End Of The Year Dance Award Banquet

Instead of a dance recital, this year there was a fancy award banquet that we had to get dressed up for and pay a lot of money for tickets to eat so-so buffet food at a banquet hall.  We were too cheap to all go, so just Jamie and I went, with Audrey, Carly and Robert (our neighbors).  We partied it up, until the trophies were handed out, then booked it out of there!  The girls had fun, I think.

Look how many people go to this dance school.  What a gold-mine they have in us suckers as parents!

See the little tiny trophies on the end?
Those are what we get.

Bringing Miss Barbara a thank you card.

Award time.

Woo hoo!  First ever trophy!  Who knew such a thing could bring so much excitement?!

Last Day of Dance Class

We were able to visit Jamie's last class for the year to see all the things they had worked on.

Baseball Dedication

We have a lot of commitment and dedication to baseball this year.  2-3 games a week plus a practice every week.  Good thing Dawson loves it and is very competitive!

See that determination?!
This is his bff, Jack, on the other team.  He got a kick out of playing against them.  (The team he was on last year.)

The cheering section.

Just watch the stages of Jamie's meltdown...
Happy.

Sad.

Really irritated?

Memorial Day

We took a little break from all the moving and working on the house to go to the Memorial Day parade, swim a little in the afternoon, and enjoy the sun for the day.  Back to working on getting in the house tomorrow.

Expanding House

Dawson gave this drawing to the grandparents to tell them about our big news.
*If you are wondering what that red stick thing is...it is a magnifying glass showing a tiny baby.

Jamie's Art

Jamie had some of her art on display at her school art show.  Usually we end up posting Dawson's art because he is so into it and Jamie has been known to be a little more careless with any drawing or writing (or pretty much anything in life, being the spaz she is).  Lately, however, she has been really into her drawings and actually trying.

Tooth Fairy

Dawson lost these two crazy looking front teeth over the last couple weeks.

One of them came out at school and he had to go to the office with it.  He never got it back from school, so you can imagine how upset he was when he didn't have the tooth for the tooth fairy, when he got home.  So, he came up with a plan.
It worked.  The tooth fairy must have found the tooth using his directions, because there was a dollar under his pillow in the morning.

The next one came out at home, so he was able to put the real tooth under his pillow.  However, he must have figured since the first note worked, maybe another note would work to his advantage too.
The tooth fairy left a note back to him, with a dollar, that said he would have to save his money and buy what he was asking for.

Baseball Season

Baseball season has begun.  Dawson's team this spring is the Grasshoppers and he should have a great time this year because a lot of friends from school are on his team this year.

Spring Break

This week was spring break.  We didn't go any where and the weather was not very nice, so a lot of time was spent watching t.v. or doing crafts inside (other than a couple trips out to a museum and some indoor play areas.)  One morning we woke up (an hour later than the kids, most likely) and found that d & j had gathered all their "babies" to watch morning t.v.  They are not normally allowed to watch t.v. on weekday mornings, before school, so this must have been an exciting morning for them.
I should also say how great it is that they get up on their own, get something to eat, and entertain themselves until we wake up.  Yeaaa for big kids!
Jamie ended up in a time-out at some point this week.  Not unusual for her.  What is unusual is that she hunched over in a doorway like a turtle, and a few minutes later she fell asleep.  She was snoring and everything.  Who does that?

A2 Hands-On Museum

Today Dawson, Jamie and I went to the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum with my friend Mary Lou and her kids Collin and Matthew.
As with most places like this, Dawson loved everything and could have stayed for many, many hours figuring things out.
Jamie, on the other hand, kept interested for a little while, but became bored pretty quickly and lost interest in all the science.  (I can relate.)

A Dawson Original

Dawson made this huge poster for fun.
It is almost 6 ft. long and completely colored in.
We are amazed at how long he sticks with his crafts, to complete them,
and the amount detail he puts in.

Our Love/Hate Relationship: Michigan Weather

From 30 degrees to 80 degrees, in 24 hours.
I think everyone went a little nuts outside today,
after waiting six months for some weather like this!
