First Tigers game of the season for the kids

First game of the season for the kids, and it was a loss. Oh well. Good thing there are about 148 more games.

We ran into David's cousin, Ben, at the game. Small world.

Real Life Farm

Jamie's preschool class had a field trip today to a farm.
We did the same trip last year with her class and Dawson's class, but the weather was cold, rainy and very muddy. This year was the opposite! It was a beautiful day and Jamie had a blast - riding a horse, feeding and holding lots of animals, milking a cow, going on a hayride and more...

Silly Kids

Just some recent silly kid pictures....
More Jamie fashions
Dawson made this piƱata pretty much by himself and got the girls of the neighborhood on a sugar high.
These grapefruit pictures are for Shontel, Joel, Nathan and Daniel....Dawson and Jamie challenge you to a grapefruit eating contest. They were sure they could beat what you ate, judging from your picture.

Lydia Visit on Easter

A visit from Lydia (and Joel, Grandpa & Grandma too) is always a highlight. They came for Easter weekend, and here are some pictures I just got around to posting.

Someone always has to be the smarty-pants and take a picture of the crazy people taking pictures.
Oh, gone are the days when the kids would sleep through a meal so we could enjoy it. So nice that Lydia still does it :)

Opening Day 2010

It was a cold Opening Day this year....but as always, lots of fun! Joel came with his friend Aaron, and Candace was my date. We tailgated with some friends of mine before the game, right next to the park, then went up to our cold, cold seats - for a great game. Yeaaaa for spring (sort of) and baseball again! Looking like it could be a good year for the Tigs.

Tonsillectomy, Adenoidectomy, Myringotomy and other tomys

Brave young Dawson went under the knife this week to get his tonsils and adenoids removed, and another ear tube placed in one of his ears because he was having a lot of infections again in one ear, and hearing on that side was almost gone. A lot of things to have done for such a little guy. He did pretty well considering what he had done.
This is still pre-surgery....post-op was a different look. I didn't take pictures of any of the after math, other than the next one.
Yes, this is totally gross, but kind of like an accident that you can't help look at. That is the giant tonsil that was causing all the worry. Worries be gone now.

Recovery is going better than anticipated, and it seems that he will be bouncing around again pretty quickly. For now, every 4-6 hours there is a minor meltdown, between doses of the narcotic. I'd have to say though, he is one tough guy! (all the ice cream and popsicles help with the bravery a little too.)

Texas

Jamie proved me wrong, when I told her Alaska was the largest state.

Jamie's Calling

I think we may have found Jamie's calling. If Dawson is going to be an artist, I think Jamie is going to be a high fashion model. This is an example of how she dresses herself. Today's choice was especially brilliant. (She said if she keeps everything tucked in, it will keep the dirt and leaves out.)

Famous Artist

Dawson is on his way to becoming a famous artist. (At least at our local library.)
His art was chosen (as one of only 2 kindergartners out of the entire city school district) to be on display, with other elementary kid's art, at the library.
Jamie will be famous at something one day. We just haven't figured out what yet. She's pretty good at spazing out. Best in that field, I think.

February is over...but here are some random pictures from the last couple weeks:

Dawson made this snow family (I'm not sure if the one is a dog or a pig.)

Jamie went to a princess birthday party for a friend.

David came home from Minnesota, and the kids made this for his return.

And Jamie helped make dinner. All in all, February was a pretty good month. Now we are ready for it to warm up.

29+1

According to my birth certificate I guess I have turned 30.
However, I am convinced that every birthday, from this year forward, I will be celebrating turning 29 again. I celebrated the 1st anniversary of my 29th birthday this year, by going on a girls only trip to Florida. (Thanks to Heidi and her mom for the great free condo!)
We had a lot of fun, and it was sunny for the most part, but it was pretty chilly for Florida (between 55-60) so we barricaded ourselves behind walls in the sun or warmed up in blankets in between the clouds coming out.
That wall did a great job shielding us from the wind.

Apparently I was the only one determined to get as much sun as possible, regardless of the temp.

The beach was a little bit underwhelming after having been in Mexico the week before...however, it was still a beach, in the sun, and there was no snow - which was great, being that the rest of the country was getting dumped on, at the time we were down there. Poor David was stuck up in frigid temperatures that whole week for work (see below post from him), while I was in the sun. So there are no complaints from me about the cold in Florida.
Side note....I think the crews at DTW know David and me by name now, after the last few weeks.

Birthday night dinner (that is Heidi) Thanks Heidi, for a fun birthday!

and.....this is what was on my car when I got back from the airport to pick up my car in the store parking lot. My staff at work had vandalized my car while it sat at work for the few vacation days (at least the snow was brushed off it), and my desk in the office was an obnoxious sight of balloons, streamers, pictures and random birthdayness. Gotta love them for making it a happy birthday though. (Unfortunately - driving home that night, I was pulled over and the cop was NOT amused by the car! He gave me a ticket on my birthday.)
